Check out Twenty-Nine Latest Game Cards from Magic: The Gathering's TMNT Set (Including a Commander-Style Deck!)
The world's favorite pizza-eating heroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The popular TCG's company, the game's creators, revealed a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion during a exclusive event hosted at New York Comic Con. Is this a exciting new set or yet another Universes Beyond cash grab? Let you be the judge.
Take a look here at everything revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, including some useful background. Everything mentioned here launches on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — a special Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27th.
Magic x TMNT: Main Set Cards
Before diving into the many special decks and bundles available, let’s take a look at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion unveiled by the developers. Standard booster packs for the set are priced at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a few surprising features. First, there's a new mechanic named Sneak Attack, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu, where gamers can play big creatures into the battlefield whenever an attacking creature goes unblocked. The big difference in this case is that this new ability can affect non-creature spells as well. Wizards also took the opportunity to clean up the ability a little (Sneak counts as playing a spell, unlike the older mechanic). Ninjutsu is staying, but it's more likely players will encounter Sneak in upcoming expansions from now on.
Should we were to return to the Kamigawa plane, it’s possible we’d use the original ability because that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark of that world,” a senior game designer stated. “But in other settings, since the mechanics are smoother and the new ability is what's going to be Standard-legal, it’s probable that we'd use Sneak.”
Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai, is one of four cards with special art designed exclusively for the expansion by TMNT original artist the co-creator.
Oh, and, should you be surprised by the rules text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play cards that aren't in your deck, so was I. Yet according to the developers, that's now a legal card in every format of Magic.
In any case, here are the highly unusual full-art lands from the TMNT set:
Following Wizards of the Coast's current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers say they took care to ensure the new cards and gameplay elements worked smoothly with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the design for over a year and we knew it would be in standard and which sets were going to be alongside it in standard,” a lead designer says. “We designed to ensure that they work well with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red archetype focused on artifact cards.
“They mesh together to provide the pieces for a enjoyable Standard-legal deck,” the designer says.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power
Following a decision to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just a single precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary cards who could work as your Commander based on how you pair them (five of the cards have a special Partner mechanic named “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command area instead of just one). Take a look below:
The Turtle Power deck is set at $69.99, although that could easily go up based on demand. Sources indicated that it contains 43 brand-new cards altogether, which means an extra 37 Turtle-themed cards besides the six legendary commanders pictured above. (Doing some rough math, this suggests approximately 20 reprints if we assume the deck comes with 37 land cards.)
What will the Turtles version of the iconic Sol Ring look like? Fans must wait and find out.
TMNT Bundle (Regular)
Typically, Wizards is selling a bundle. It costs $69.99 and includes the listed items:
- Nine Standard Boosters
- 15 Foil basic lands
- 15 Regular basic lands
- 2 helper cards
- One Traditional foil promo card
- One Oversized life tracker
- 1 storage box
Pizza Bundle
Here’s a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, primarily because it comes in a box resembling a pizza box. Each Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and includes the items below:
- Nine Standard Boosters
- One Collector Booster
- 25 Regular pizza lands
- Five Foil pizza-themed lands
- 2 Traditional foil pizza bundle promotional cards
- Two Reference cards
- One Oversized spindown life counter
- One Card-storage box
If you’re wondering about the “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s basically a reprinted older card with brand-new TMNT art. The team showed one for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual depicting Splinter adding toppings on a pizza slice. In total, there are six distinct Pizza Bundle promo cards available.
The Pizza Bundle launches a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Night
This special bundle is made for a four-player draft and is priced at $119.99. That will get you:
- 12 Play Boosters (the perfect amount four people to play draft)
- One Collector Booster (also known as, the prize for winning)
- Ninety Non-foil basic lands (for building your draft deck)
- 10 Regular token cards
- One Draft insert (a one-sheet instruction sheet to drafting this expansion)
Turtle Team-Up
Lastly, the developers are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its ongoing effort to develop Magic game products specifically for new players. Here, the cooperative set is a special set of decks that allow two players team up to face a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.
The general idea is that every Boss card grants special abilities to the creature cards contained in the boss deck. Each Boss automatically plays one other card per turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
