Shocking Video Captures Point Officers Are Stabbed in Surprise Attack
One ranking policeman that leaped to the help of a partner that got attacked by a blade-wielder received the Royal Recognition for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown after he placed a knife to the neck of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver subsequent to a traffic accident in Whalley Range in mid-2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.
"Policeman knifed," PC Wolstencroft stated over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashcam recording made public by the agency revealed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood up, rush to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a blade pointed forward.
He ran into the policeman who stumbled and went down to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and struggled to restrain him to the pavement despite being repeatedly struck with the blade.
PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and sought a open target, bringing the struggle to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get help on my throat now, I've been stabbed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell sustained two lacerations to his throat and additional injuries to his arms and body, whereas Sgt Foster received knife wounds.
Officials stated Sgt Foster used his bare hands to stop his colleague's hemorrhaging before medical personnel arrived.
The new recognition follows after the three officers were granted internal Valor Recognitions in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the local union branch in April 2024.
They additionally received a North West Courage Honor in July 2024.
"The responses of each policeman ultimately rescued themselves and meant no bystanders endured any harm."
Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, per officials.
