Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Is Here, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive close to the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
The company has three new games officially announced for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
