UK Military Sites to Accommodate Asylum Seekers in Effort to Terminate Hotel Usage
Numerous asylum seekers could be placed in armed forces facilities as the administration seeks to phase out the reliance of hotels.
Negotiations are in progress regarding the utilization of two locations - one in northern Britain and a second in the south of England - for accommodation for 900 men.
The government leader has instructed Home Office and Defense Department officials to expedite initiatives to find suitable military sites.
The ruling party has committed to end the utilization of refugee hotels, which have required substantial taxpayer money and turned into a primary concern for anti-asylum seeker rallies.
Planned Military Sites
Migrants could be accommodated in the Cameron Barracks in Highland region and Crowborough military training facility in East Sussex by the final days of the upcoming month.
Industrial sites, short-term shelter and otherwise disused accommodation are also being considered for possible utilization.
Government Commitments
Authoritative figures indicated that all sites would adhere to wellbeing requirements.
"The government remains extremely concerned at the level of illegal migrants and asylum hotels."
"Our administration will shut down each temporary accommodation facility. Preparations are well underway, with more suitable sites being proposed to ease pressure on resident populations and reduce asylum costs."
Current Housing Statistics
Around 32,000 asylum seekers are at this time being sheltered in temporary lodging, representing a drop from a high point of more than 56,000 in the previous year.
A recent report found that billions of public funds had been "wasted" on asylum accommodation.
Earlier Defense Site Usage
Two former military sites - MDP Wethersfield in Essex and former military base in southeastern England - are presently being operated to accommodate refugee applicants after being established under the previous government.
The administration head commented on the situation, saying: "The government is determined to close each temporary accommodation facility. I can't tell you how frustrated and angry we are that we've been left with a situation as big as the current circumstances by the last government."
